Big 5 Distance Post - 【MacLehose Trail】
Sitting in Tuen Man, "M200" was the last Distance Post of the Maclehose Trail -- the longest hiking trail in Hong Kong, meaning the end point of the trail.
The MacLehose Trail is a 100-kilometer hiking trail in Hong Kong, named after the former governor Sir Murray Maclehose. Therefore, the distance posts of the trail start with M. The trail ranges from rugged mountains and valleys to picturesque beaches and reservoirs from Sai Kung to Tuen Mun. It passes through some of the most beautiful and scenic areas of Hong Kong, including the Sai Wan Hill, Beacon Hill, Needle Hill, Grass Hill, Tai Mo Shan, etc.
The Maclehose Trail is divided into 10 sections below:
Section 1: Pak Tam Chung -> Long Ke Wan (10km)
Section 2: Long Ke Wan -> Pak Tam Au（14km）
Section 3: Pak Tam Au -> Kei Ling Ha（10.2km)
Section 4: Kei Ling Ha -> Shui Long Wo（11km）
Section 5: Shui Long Wo ->t Tai Po Road (11km)
Section 6: Tai Po Road -> Lead Mine Pass（4km）
Section 7: Lead Mine Pass -> Shing Mun（7km）
Section 8: Shing Mun -> Needle Hill （9.5km）
Section 9: Needle Hill -> Tin Fu Tsai（6km）
Section 10: Tin Fu Tsai -> Tuen Mun Road（15.5km）

The design of distance posts are distinct among countries, thus is the most symbolic items that every hikers here can easily recognised.
The major Hong Kong trails are marked at 500-metre intervals for the purposes to identify hikers' position along the Country Trail. Hikers can easily communicate their estimated position in case of emergencies by spotting the nearest posts.
