【Lantau Trail】
Lantau Trail is located on Lantau Island, the largest island of Hong Kong. Named after the island's highest peak Lantau Peak, Lantau Trail opened on 4 December 1984. The 70 km trail is divided into 12 sections. Circling South Lantau Country Park, Lantau Trail runs from Mui Wo in the east around the western coast back to Mui Wo.
Crossing southeast Lantau Island, Lantau Trail goes by Hong Kong's second and third highest peaks, Lantau Peak and Sunset Peak. "Lantau Peak Watching the Sunrise" was selected as one of the Top 10 Scenic Spots in Hong Kong. Many go to watch the sunrise. Reaching the summit of Lantau Peak overlooks the Tian Tan Buddha and offers a panoramic view of Mui Wo, Pui O and Sunset Peak. The English name of Sunset Peak is "SUNSET PEAK", a good spot to watch the sunset. Many photographers choose Sunset Peak as a shooting location.

Although distance posts can be found along hiking trails around the world, the unique patterns on Hong Kong's distance markers make them one-of-a-kind. As important symbols of Hong Kong's indigenous outdoor culture, we hope to incorporate the design of these markers into lifestyle products to promote Hong Kong's unique outdoor culture among Hongkongers and people around the world! The patterns on distance markers were redesigned by our illustrator.
We aim to tie in local outdoor culture with our day-to-day lifestyle, to promote our local unique nature embracing culture to friends around the world!
The design of distance posts are distinct among countries, thus is the most symbolic items that every hikers here can easily recognised.
The major Hong Kong trails are marked at 500-metre intervals for the purposes to identify hikers' position along the Country Trail. Hikers can easily communicate their estimated position in case of emergencies by spotting the nearest posts.
